Information sought by MCA is generic in nature and in public domain, clarifies Zee Entertainment
Feb 5, 2020 7:01 AM

The Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) has ordered an inspection into the financials of Zee Entertainment. The MCA has also ordered an inspection on allegations of corporate governance lapses, according to sources.

Throwing more light on the matter Rohit Gupta, CFO of Zee Entertainment clarified, “We have received a letter from the MCA. The same is under section 206 (5). The information required is quite generic in nature and most of it is in public domain. We are in a process s of collating all the required information and we will be sharing it with the ministry within the advised timeline,” he said.

“There is no specific request at this point of time. They have requested for annual accounts and things like that, which contain all the information which we will be submitting. This is not related to any corporate governance issue,” he added.

“MCA has asked for information like our memorandum of articles, articles of association, sets of annual accounts, shareholding pattern and so on,” said Gupta.

When asked about Rs 22 crore film advance or outstanding from Dish TV and Siti Cable, he replied, “MCA at this point of time has not requested any specific queries regarding that. They have asked for information which is available in the public domain, which we are supplying. Also, none of the points relate to information which was linked to the resignation of directors specifically the points which were raised at that point of time. However, whenever they will require any information, we will provide.”
