10:46 AM EDT, 06/10/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Innoviva's ( INVA ) Innoviva Specialty Therapeutics unit said Tuesday the US Food and Drug Administration has accepted its new drug application for zoliflodacin to treat uncomplicated gonorrhea in adults and pediatric patients 12 years and older.

If approved, zoliflodacin would be the first new antibiotic for treating gonorrhea in decades, the company said.

In laboratory studies, Zoliflodacin has been shown to be active against Neisseria gonorrhoeae including multidrug-resistant strains, it added.
