Intel Names Lip-Bu Tan as CEO -- Shares Jump After Hours

04:30 PM EDT, 03/12/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Intel ( INTC ) said late Wednesday its board has appointed Lip-Bu Tan as chief executive officer, effective March 18.

Tan succeeds interim co-CEOs David Zinsner and Michelle Johnston Holthaus, the company said, adding Tan will also rejoin Intel's ( INTC ) board after stepping down from the board in August.

Tan was formerly CEO of Cadence Design Systems (CDNS) from 2009 to 2021, Intel ( INTC ) said.

Intel ( INTC ) shares were rising nearly 13% in recent after-hours activity.
