06:12 AM EST, 02/19/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Intel ( INTC ) is in talks to sell a majority stake in its programmable chip business, Altera, to buyout firm Silver Lake, multiple news outlets reported Tuesday.

The deal could value Altera at around $9 billion, but the exact size of the stake has yet to be determined, Reuters reported, citing people familiar with the matter.

Intel ( INTC ) and Silver Lake did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
