Interactive Brokers Group Reports $48 Million Loss From NYSE Glitch
Jun 26, 2024 9:58 AM

12:33 PM EDT, 06/26/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Interactive Brokers Group ( IBKR ) said Wednesday that it took about a $48 million loss due to an "unspecified technical issue" at the New York Stock Exchange on June 3.

The company said it does not expect the losses to have a material impact on its financials, but it is considering its options to recover the losses, including possible legal options.

Due to the technical issue, the price of Berkshire Hathaway's (BRK-A) class A shares plummeted from about $622,000 per share to approximately $185 per share "in the space of a few seconds," causing buyers to submit buy orders, said the company.

According to Interactive Brokers Group ( IBKR ), many of these orders were filled at various prices during this run-up, including some at the peak price.

Interactive Brokers ( IBKR ) said it promptly filed compensation claims with the NYSE, which denied the claims on Tuesday.

Price: 122.24, Change: +0.13, Percent Change: +0.11
