Intercontinental Exchange Sees Record 517 Million Contracts Traded in Q3; Energy Leads

08:51 AM EDT, 10/15/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Intercontinental Exchange ( ICE ) said Tuesday that its total futures and options markets set a record in Q3 by trading 517 million contracts, with energy futures and options reaching 276 million contracts.

The company said Brent futures and options saw a record 93.4 million contracts traded, with an average daily volume of 1.5 million during the quarter.

Open interest in Brent options reached 3.77 million on Oct. 11, with total open interest in Brent futures and options up 20% year-over-year to 6 million contracts, Intercontinental Exchange ( ICE ) said.

Gasoil options also set a new record with about 344,000 contracts traded in Q3, and open interest reached 1.3 million on Oct. 3, marking a 60% year-over-year increase, the company said.
