Intuitive Surgical Historically Favors Adding to Earnings-Driven After-Hours Gains in Follow-On Regular Session

07:00 AM EDT, 04/18/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Intuitive Surgical ( ISRG ) has over the last 20 years developed a pattern of adding its earnings-driven after-hours gains in the following day's regular session. The company is due with Q1 results in tonight's after-hours session, and analysts polled by Capital IQ expect a profit of $1.42 per share on revenue of $1.9 billion.

ISRG has seen wider follow-on regular session movement on the heels of 45 of its last 77 extended-hours quarterly reports, 58% of the time.

Looking deeper into the performance data, ISRG has recorded an after-hours gain in 40 of the quarters we've tracked, adding to its gains the next day in 27 quarters (68% of the time). The stock has recorded an after-hours decline in 37 quarters, adding to its evening declines in next-day trade in 18 quarters, or 46% of the time.
