10:25 AM EDT, 04/26/2024 (MT Newswires) -- IonQ ( IONQ ) said Friday it has appointed Chief Executive and President Peter Chapman as board chairman, effective at the close of the company's annual general meeting June 5.

Chapman's chairmanship will take effect assuming he is re-elected to the company's board at the meeting, IonQ ( IONQ ) said.

The company said Chapman will continue to serve as CEO and president.

IonQ ( IONQ ) shares were up almost 4% in recent trading.
