Apple has kicked off a new photography challenge called "Shot on iPhone" in which the tech giant is asking its users to submit best photographs that were captured on an iPhone.

Users can post your best photo taken on iPhone to Instagram or Twitter with the #ShotOniPhone hashtag to participate in the challenge, the company said in a statement.

Weibo users can participate as well using #ShotOniPhone#. Alternatively, users can also submit the photo in its highest resolution to [email protected] with the file format ‘firstname_lastname_iphonemodel.’

The collection of entries have started on January 22 and will go until February 7.

The participants must be above the age of 18 years. Apple employees, including retail employees, along with their families, are not eligible to participate, the company added.

"Ten winning photos will be featured on Apple Newsroom, Apple’s Instagram channels, apple.com, in Apple retail stores, Apple WeChat, Apple Twitter accounts, Apple Weibo accounts and billboards around the world," it said.

Photos can be straight from the camera, edited through Apple’s editing tools in the Photos app or with third-party software, the tech giant said.

"You retain your rights to your photograph; however, by submitting your photo, you grant Apple a royalty-free, worldwide, irrevocable, non-exclusive license for one year to use," said the company.

A panel of well-known photographers are serving as judges for the contest which includes former White House photographer Pete Souza, travel photographers Austin Mann and Annet de Graaf, Brazilian photographer Luísa Dörr, and fashion photographer Chen Man.

Few Apple employees will also be judge entries, including Apple marketing chief Phil Schiller, senior director in worldwide product marketing Kaiann Drance, photographer Brooks Kraft, software developer Sebastian Marineu-Mes, camera software team leader Jon McCormack, and director of photography Arem Duplessis.
