MILAN, April 12 (Reuters) - Italy's Banca Sella has
restored its online services after three million of its
customers and those of its digital bank Hype lost access to
their accounts this past week.
The regional bank identified the cause of the disruption and
implemented actions required to solve the problem, it said in an
online statement late on Thursday.
The lender had said that the outage was caused by an IT
update provided by Oracle, a supplier for the group's
operating system for more than 20 years, and was not related to
cybersecurity issues.
Oracle had no immediate comment.
The use of payment cards was not affected and the bank
extended opening hours to allow customers to carry out cash
transactions and payments.
Banca Sella has around 1.3 million customers. Hype, a joint
venture with lender illimity, has around 1.7 million
customers.
