MILAN, Sept 23 (Reuters) - Italian broadband network
operator FiberCop plans to cut its workforce by 1,300 through a
voluntary early retirement scheme, two sources with knowledge of
the matter told Reuters.
FiberCop representatives will discuss details of the plan
with unions at meeting scheduled for Sept. 26, the sources said.
The company had not immediate comment.
FiberCop currently has around 20,000 workers, according to
its website.
A spin-off of Italy's former phone monopoly Telecom Italia
(TIM), FiberCop was bought in July by a consortium led
by U.S. investment firm KKR and including the Italian
Treasury, in a deal worth up to 22 billion euros ($24.47
billion).
