09:58 AM EDT, 05/20/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Ivanhoe Mines ( IVPAF ) on Tuesday fell 6% after it said that it temporarily suspended mining operations at the Kakula underground mine at the Kamoa-Kakula Copper Complex in the Democratic Republic of Congo after seismic activity was experienced in the eastern section of the mine over the past week.
Kamoa Copper's management team had suspended underground operations on Sunday. The company said the Phase 1 and 2 concentrators are temporarily operating at a reduced capacity, processing ore from surface stockpiles.
It added that seismic activity was reported to have significantly reduced in the past 24 hours and that the western section of the Kakula mine was declared safe for mining operations to resume imminently. Ore from the western section of the Kakula mine will also be processed as soon as underground operations resume.
Mining activities at the Kamoa underground mine and processing at the adjacent Phase 3 concentrator have not been impacted.
Shares of the company were last seen down $0.82 at $12.99 on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
