10:51 AM EDT, 05/22/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Jacobs Solutions ( J ) said Wednesday it was picked to provide program management services for Florida public transit expansion under a $17.5 million contract for five years.

The goal of the Broward County Transportation Department's $4.4 billion, 30-year, program is to create a network that includes a new light rail link from Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport to Port Everglades in Florida, Jacobs said.

The contract covers "developing design criteria for the initial rail transit project to identifying ways to optimize system maintenance and operations," Jacobs said.
