05:55 PM EDT, 03/19/2024 (MT Newswires) -- JetBlue Airways ( JBLU ) said Tuesday it will eliminate some routes and scale back service as it seeks to reduce expenses and return to profitability.
The airline said that as part of its constant evaluation of routes, it decided to end flights to Bogota, Colombia; Quito, Ecuador; Lima, Peru; and Kansas City, while making other routes seasonal.
The carrier also said it will not resume service to Newburgh in New York, which has been suspended since 2020.
"These markets have recently fallen short of our expectations," the company said in an emailed statement.
The carrier said it plans to redeploy its fleet to increase frequencies on "well-performing" routes.
