11:52 AM EDT, 07/31/2024 (MT Newswires) -- JetBlue Airways ( JBLU ) and World Kinect's ( WKC ) World Fuel Services unit said Wednesday they have entered a deal to start regularly supplying blended sustainable aviation fuel, or SAF, to John F. Kennedy International Airport by Q4.
Valero Energy's ( VLO ) Valero Marketing and Supply unit will provide the SAF, the companies said.
Under the 12-month agreement, JetBlue ( JBLU ) will initially receive at least one million gallons of pure SAF. The company also has the option to buy up to an extra four million gallons. The blended fuel will be delivered through existing infrastructure like the Colonial Pipeline, the companies said.
Diamond Green Diesel, a joint venture between Valero and Darling Ingredients ( DAR ) , will produce pure SAF. Valero will blend this with regular jet fuel to make blended SAF, and World Fuel will deliver it, the companies said.
