Jio launches 'calendar month validity' prepaid plan; check details here
Mar 28, 2022 4:48 AM

India's largest telecom operator Reliance Jio on Monday launched 'calendar month validity' prepaid plan. Priced at Rs 259, the plan allows users unlimited data and calling benefits for 1 calendar month. Jio is the first in the industry to launch the 'calendar month validity' prepaid plan.

With this plan, users can get 1.5GB of daily data, 100 SMS per day, unlimited voice calling and complimentary subscription to Jio Apps such as JioCinema, JioTV, JioCloud, and JioSecurity. After the user consumes the 1.5 GB daily data, the speed of the internet drops to 64 kbps for the rest of the day.

The plan offers a special 1-month validity. If a user recharges the phone with Rs 259 monthly plan on March 5, then the next recurring recharge dates would be April 5, May 5, June 5 and so on. This means that prepaid users will have to remember one date every month for recharge.

Available to both new and existing users on all online and offline channels, the calendar month validity plan, like other Jio prepaid plans, can be recharged with Rs 259 multiple times at a go.

“The advance recharged plan goes into a queue and automatically becomes active on the date of expiry of the current active plan,” Jio said in a statement.

Till now, Reliance Jio had been offering a prepaid plan with 28 days of service validity. The telecom giant will continue offering this same plan for 28 days at Rs 239.

Earlier this year, telecom regulator TRAI had asked telecom companies to provide prepaid mobile recharge plans with 30-day validity, a move that was bound to reduce the number of recharges done by a customer during a year.

For IPL fans, Jio had launched a new Rs 279 cricket add-on prepaid plan last week that offers access to Disney+ Hotstar subscription. However, the add-on recharge is a data-only pack and does not offer the benefits of voice calling and SMS. With this plan, users will get one year of mobile subscription of Disney+ Hotstar and 15GB of total high-speed data. The plan is available only to select users.
