Popular Android and iOS social media applications Facebook, WhatsApp and YouTube will be available on the JioPhone 2, said Akash and Isha Ambani at the Reliance annual general meeting (AGM) on Thursday.

JioPhone 2 is a 4G feature phone that was launched at Rs 2,999.

The previous iteration of the JioPhone supports multimedia content via Jio apps and services such as JioMusic, JioTV, JioCinema, among others, but does not support these social media applications.

In the JioPhone 2 these apps can be directly triggered via a voice command.

"Our purpose is to accelerate the digital revolution in India with the extreme affordability of a JioPhone, so that each and every Indian can access the internet and enjoy the digital life," Reliance Industries said in a statement.

A new ‘Monsoon Hungama Offer’, where users would be able to exchange their old feature phones for a JioPhone and get Rs 999 cashback was announced at the event.

Customers can also exchange their existing feature phones for a new JioPhone at just Rs 501, Mukesh Ambani said at the .
