11:13 AM EDT, 08/06/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Joby Aviation ( JOBY ) said Tuesday it has applied for certification of its electric air taxis in Australia.

The application to Australia's Civil Aviation Safety Authority is based on a bilateral agreement with the US Federal Aviation Administration for mutual recognition of aviation approvals and certifications, the company said.

Joby said it has also applied to have its FAA type certificate, once received, validated in Japan and the UK.
