07:39 AM EDT, 07/11/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Joby Aviation ( JOBY ) said Thursday it has flown a hydrogen-electric air taxi 523 miles, with water as the only emission.

The company said the vertical take-off aircraft shows the "potential for hydrogen to unlock emissions-free" air travel without a runway.

The test flight of the liquid hydrogen-powered, six-motor aircraft was completed last month in collaboration with H2FLY, Joby's German subsidiary.
