Johnson & Johnson's Biosense Webster Unit Hit With Injunction for Antitrust Violations
Aug 29, 2025 5:24 AM

08:04 AM EDT, 08/29/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Johnson & Johnson's ( JNJ ) Biosense Webster medical device unit has been hit with a permanent injunction for violating antitrust laws, the Association of Medical Device Reprocessors said Thursday.

A ruling by the US District Court for the Central District of California bars Biosense Webster from blocking hospitals' access to other FDA-regulated reprocessed cardiac catheters, AMDR said.

The injunction also forbids Biosense Webster from deploying anti-competitive business practices like tying clinical support to the purchase of their own cardiac mapping machines and using discriminatory practices against care providers who use Biosense Webster devices reprocessed by another company, according to the association.

The ruling also bars the company from hoarding used catheters intended to prevent other reprocessors from obtaining source materials.

The injunction will remain in effect for five years initially, but the court can "shorten or lengthen" it to reflect "market conditions," AMDR said.

Johnson & Johnson ( JNJ ) did not immediately respond to an MT Newswires request for comment.
