JP Morgan appoints former Goldman Sachs banker to lead German business

FRANKFURT, May 22 (Reuters) - JP Morgan has

appointed former Goldman Sachs banker Alexander Mayer as

the new head of its German and Austrian business, the U.S.

investment bank said in a memo seen by Reuters on Wednesday.

Mayer previously spent 24 years at Goldman Sachs ( GS ), most

recently as head of Investment Banking for Germany and Austria.

He will join JPM's Frankfurt office, which is the

headquarters for its European business, later this year.

The U.S. bank's previous Germany and Austria chief Stefan

Povaly will take on a new role as co-head of Global Corporate

Banking EMEA with Marcus Hiseman, the memo adds.
