Kazakhstan's Tengiz daily oil output hits record at end of January, sources say
Feb 3, 2025 7:59 AM

MOSCOW, Feb 3 (Reuters) - Daily output from Kazakhstan's

largest field, Tengiz, rose to a record of 870,000 barrels per

day (bpd) late in January, up 45% from the 2024 average,

according to two industry sources familiar with the data and

Reuters calculations.

Tengiz, operated by Chevron ( CVX )-led Tengizchevroil (TCO), is

expected to reach production of 34.7 million metric tons (or

about 760,000 bpd) in 2025, up 24.8% from 2024, the Kazakh

Energy Ministry said.

Earlier, TCO said the scheduled maintenance at Tengiz had

been completed and "a gradual ramp-up of a new third-generation

plant (3GP) production" was launched. It is expected to expand

Tengiz's crude oil output by an extra 12 million tons per year.

Oil output from Tengiz was curbed for almost two months late

in 2024 and until mid-January of 2025 due to maintenance.

According to the sources, oil exports via Caspian Pipeline

Consortium (CPC) system will be revised up amid higher output on

Tengiz. Tengiz oil is mostly supplied to exports via CPC.

The initial February CPC Blend oil loading plan was set at

5.1 million tons.

The press service of Chevron ( CVX ), the main shareholder of TCO,

declined to comment on specific details of its current or future

production levels, or on specific details of its operations.

The Ministry of Energy of Kazakhstan did not immediately

respond to a Reuters request for comment on Monday. CPC declined

to comment on February deliveries.
