Deepak Fertilisers, one of the two leading producers of iso propyl alcohol (IPA) in the country said on Wednesday that IPA prices were back to pre-COVID levels. IPA is a key ingredient in sanitisers.
“IPA jumped up in Q1 but in H1 (first half of the year) we have had 4.5 times improvement over last year. Currently, the prices have subdued but they are back to normal earlier days. Therefore, we see that the need for hand sanitizers, as a new normal, will remain but not at crazy level that was there in Q1,” said Sailesh C Mehta, CMD of the company.
Mehta said his company had trebled its fertiliser capacity in the last three years and the good monsoon boosted demand for it.
