KFC Malaysia Temporarily Closes Outlets

11:31 AM EDT, 04/30/2024 (MT Newswires) -- KFC Malaysia has closed some outlets temporarily because of "challenging economic conditions," QSR Brands, which operates KFC ( YUM ) franchises in the country, said Monday.

"QSR Brands and KFC Malaysia have taken proactive measures to temporarily close outlets as means to manage increasing business costs and focus on high engagement trade zones," the operator said in a statement.

QSR didn't specify how many stores and workers were affected, though the employees were offered the prospect to relocate to busier operating stores.

Media reports said more than 100 outlets were temporarily closed due to boycotts linked to the conflict in Gaza.

KFC ( YUM ) is a subsidiary of Yum! Brands ( YUM ) .
