Kinsale Insurance Liable for TRC's Legal Costs in Dispute With Chevron
Jun 11, 2024 12:16 PM

02:58 PM EDT, 06/11/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Kinsale Capital Group ( KNSL ) unit was liable to contribute to cover legal costs in a dispute between a California oil well services provider and Chevron ( CVX ) , a US magistrate judge ruled Monday.

Kinsale Insurance, which was one of a handful of insures that provided coverage to TRC Operation and TRC Cypress Group at various times from 2000 to 2018, bears responsibility for defending the entity, Judge Christopher Baker of the US District Court for the Eastern District of California ruled.

Kinsale Insurance was sued by TRC's other insurers, New York Maine, and Travelers (TRV) unit St. Paul, for failing to share the legal costs.

Both TRC and Chevron ( CVX ) have sued each other for allegedly damaging their bordering properties. TRC has called the alleged damage to the oil major's property accidental.

Kinsale Capital ( KNSL ) did not immediately respond to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
