Three analysts polled by FactSet expected a loss of $0.93.
Revenue for the quarter ended March 31 was $353.5 million compared with $329.6 million a year earlier.
Analysts surveyed by FactSet expected $338.3 million.
The company raised its 2025 revenue guidance to $3.25 billion to $3.45 billion from $3 billion to $3.2 billion. Analysts polled by FactSet expect $3.13 billion.
Knife River shares were down 2.9% in recent premarket activity.
