08:33 AM EDT, 07/17/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Kratos Defense & Security Solutions (KTOS) said Thursday it has completed a live test with Intelsat that showed a satellite connection can support end-to-end 5G services using their combined technology platforms.

The companies used Kratos Defense's virtual ground system and Intelsat's satellite and 5G core infrastructure to activate a 5G cell over a geostationary satellite, Kratos Defense said, adding that the test confirmed that multiple simulated user devices could connect through the satellite and establish data sessions.

Kratos Defense and Intelsat are developing 5G non-terrestrial network systems based on recent global standards, aiming to extend broadband coverage to areas without terrestrial access, Kratos Defense said.

Shares of the company were 3% higher in recent Thursday premarket activity.
