09:19 AM EDT, 04/21/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Kratos Defense & Security Solutions (KTOS) said Tuesday it has completed the initial flight series of its J85 engine-powered Firejet unmanned aerial system, marking a key milestone in the development of its next-generation high-performance drone platform.

The Mk1 Firejet integrates a US made J85 engine developed with the US Army Target Systems Management Office, enhancing speed, range and climb performance over earlier versions.

Kratos said the upgraded Firejet expands its unmanned systems portfolio, improving performance while maintaining cost efficiency and reducing supply chain risk through US-based engine production.

Shares of Kratos Defense & Security Solutions were up 1.7% in Tuesday's premarket activity.
