08:31 AM EST, 12/11/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Krispy Kreme (DNUT) said Wednesday it continued to face some operational disruption with online ordering in the US after it detected unauthorized activity on the part of its IT systems last month.
The company said it is actively working with external cybersecurity specialists to restore full online operations and has informed federal law enforcement.
While the investigation is ongoing and the complete scope and impact of the incident are not yet fully known, the company said the event is expected to have a significant short-term impact on operations, including potential revenue loss from digital sales and costs for expert fees and system restoration.
The company added that Krispy Kreme has cybersecurity insurance, which should cover a portion of these expenses, but the incident may still affect the company's financial performance in the near term.
Krispy Kreme said its stores worldwide remain open, in-person orders are available, and daily fresh deliveries to retail and restaurant partners continue as usual.
