08:15 AM EDT, 08/01/2025 (MT Newswires) -- L3Harris Technologies ( LHX ) is collaborating with Joby Aviation ( JOBY ) to develop a new class of Joby's vertical take-off and landing aircraft for defense applications, the two companies said Friday.

The aim is to create a gas-turbine hybrid powered aircraft for low-altitude missions that has the option of being flown without a pilot, according to the statement.

Flight testing is expected this fall, with operational demonstrations planned during government exercises in 2026, the statement said.
