12:13 PM EDT, 06/06/2024 (MT Newswires) -- L3Harris Technologies ( LHX ) said Thursday that the US Air Force awarded a $34 million contract to upgrade the B-52 Stratofortress bomber.

The modernization is part of the Air Force's Global Strike Command B-52 Quad Crew Program and will focus on consolidating the operations of electronic warfare officer and navigator into one position, the company said.

Currently, a B-52 crew consists of two pilots, two navigators and one electronic warfare officer.
