10:14 AM EDT, 04/10/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Labcorp (LH) said Wednesday it received the US Food and Drug Administration's emergency use authorization for its Mpox PCR Test Home Collection Kit for diagnosing infections with non-variola Orthopoxvirus, including the monkeypox virus.

The company said the kit is available for patients 18 years and older suspected of having the mpox infection, allowing for at-home collection with physician orders. Testing is conducted in certified laboratories with results accessible to both physicians and patients electronically, Labcorp said..

The authorization follows the rising number of mpox cases in the US, the company said.
