Lantheus Holdings Shares Surge after Medicare Proposes New Payment Policy for Radiopharmaceuticals

11:54 AM EDT, 07/10/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Lantheus Holdings ( LNTH ) shares rose nearly 31% in recent trading Wednesday after Medicare proposed updated plans related to the reimbursement rate for diagnostic radiopharmaceuticals.

Under the refined proposal, Medicare aims to separately reimburse the cost of specialized diagnostic radiopharmaceuticals that exceed $630 per day and remove the costs from the payment amounts for the nuclear medicine tests.

The proposal seeks to address "challenges for patients in assessing these prescribed nuclear medicine tests with higher-cost radiopharmaceuticals,"the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services said.
