07:33 AM EST, 11/18/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Liberty Energy (LBRT) said Monday it plans to appoint William Kimble as non-executive board chairman and Ron Gusek as chief executive officer, should Liberty's founder Chris Wright become the US energy secretary.

Wright is currently the board chair and CEO of the company. Over the weekend, President-elect Donald Trump nominated Wright to head the Department of Energy, subject to confirmation by the Senate.

Liberty Energy shares were up nearly 7% in premarket activity.
