Analysts polled by FactSet expected $8.57.

Revenue for the quarter ended Sept. 30 was $9.68 billion, up from $9.22 billion a year earlier.

Analysts surveyed by FactSet expected $9.47 billion.

The company kept its quarterly dividend at $0.55 per share, to be paid Nov. 21 to shareholders of record Nov. 7.
