08:39 AM EST, 11/29/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Lithium Americas (LAAC) said Friday it plans to establish its corporate domicile in Switzerland, adopting the new name Lithium Argentina AG, pending shareholder, stock exchange, and court approval in early 2025.

Switzerland was chosen for its strategic, legal, and commercial advantages after a review of the company's business and corporate structure.

The company said the redomiciling will be completed through a plan of arrangement from British Columbia, Canada, to Zug, Switzerland.

It added that the operational headquarters will remain in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

The company expects no major changes to its operations or financial results, adding it will continue listing on the Toronto Stock Exchange and the NYSE under the new ticker 'LAR.'

Shareholder approval will be sought at a special meeting on Jan. 17, 2025.
