Lockheed Martin Delivers First C-130J Super Hercules Aircraft to New Zealand's Military

09:52 AM EDT, 08/09/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Lockheed Martin ( LMT ) on Friday said the New Zealand Ministry of Defence and the New Zealand Defence Force has taken delivery of the first of five C-130J Super Hercules tactical airlifters originally ordered from the aerospace and military contractor in 2020.

The new C-130J-30 variants will eventually replace New Zealand's existing fleet of five C-130Hs and will fly from RNZAF Base Auckland, Whenuapai, on humanitarian and disaster relief operations as well as partnering with allies in military operations, the company said.

The transaction was organized through a foreign military sale by the US Air Force, which also worked alongside personnel from Lockheed Martin ( LMT ) and the New Zealand Defence Force on training in the new aircraft.
