04:43 AM EST, 03/03/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Lockheed Martin ( LMT ) said Sunday it is partnering with Nokia ( NOK ) and Verizon (VZ) to incorporate Nokia's ( NOK ) 5G technology into its 5G.MIL Hybrid Base Station (HBS), which connects commercially available 5G with military communication systems.

Financial details of the collaboration weren't provided.

The company also said trials were conducted at its labs in Pennsylvania and Texas, as well as Verizon's Boston Innovation Center, to show how tactical communication tools can function alongside 5G using open standards.

The system includes hybrid user equipment, which allows secure communication by switching between commercial 5G and tactical waveforms without interruption, Lockheed Martin ( LMT ) added.

The next stage of development will take place at the company's 5G.MIL experimental network site in Florida, where testing will focus on improving compatibility and expanding device integration, the company said.

Nokia's ( NOK ) shares were up 4% in recent Monday premarket activity.
