June 19 (Reuters) - Lockheed Martin ( LMT ) has outlined
a plan to help Britain build a new missile defence system, the
Financial Times said on Thursday, citing an official of the U.S.
firm and defence sources.
Britain said this month it would radically change its
approach to defence to tackle threats from Russia, nuclear risks
and cyberattacks by investing in drones and digital warfare.
Lockheed offers "interceptors, ground-based sensors,
space-based situational awareness - that could give the United
Kingdom (an initial) capability very rapidly," Lockheed
operations chief Frank St John said.
Such atrributes could be critical as the government decides
its approach, he added.
