The company is looking to increase its private sector customer base by passing on the benefit of the cut in gas prices announced by the government recently, Managing Director AK Jana said in an interview with CNCTV18.

Roughly 70 percent of the gas procured by IGL is through the administered pricing mechanism, under which the government sets the prices.

IGL is looking to offer piped gas connections to around 9 lakh houses over the next few years, Jana said.
