Nov 5 (Reuters) - The international airport in
Louisville, Kentucky reopened for air traffic early Wednesday,
more than 12 hours after a UPS wide-body cargo plane
crashed and erupted into a fireball moments after takeoff,
killing seven people.
Investigators from the National Transportation Safety Board
will be on site Wednesday to begin the process of finding out
what went wrong when the 34-year-old MD-11 cargo plane caught
fire around 5:13 p.m. ET Tuesday and then crashed, igniting
fires in an industrial corridor adjacent to the airport.
The first flight - an American Airlines ( AAL ) passenger jet -
arrived from Dallas shortly before 8 a.m. ET. The runway where
the accident plane departed is expected to remain closed for
another 10 days.
