10:42 AM EDT, 05/22/2024 (MT Newswires) -- LSB Industries ( LXU ) agreed to supply Freeport Minerals up to 150,000 short tons per annum of low carbon ammonium nitrate solution for five years starting Jan. 1.

The solution will be supplied from the El Dorado, Arkansas, and the low carbon contracted volume will be phased in, LSB said Wednesday in a statement.

The company expects to start operations of its carbon capture and sequestration project with Lapis Energy in 2026, subject to approval by the Environmental Protection Agency of the partners' Class VI permit application.

LSB said Freeport plans to use the low carbon ammonium nitrate solution for copper mining in the US.
