09:25 AM EDT, 07/24/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Lumen Technologies ( LUMN ) and Microsoft ( MSFT ) said Wednesday they signed a new strategic collaboration to use the Microsoft Cloud for Lumen's digital offerings.

Microsoft ( MSFT ) also selected Lumen's Private Connectivity Fabric custom network to support the tech giant's network infrastructure requirements and its data centers' demand as the custom network includes access to current fiber in the Lumen network, the deployment of new fiber on current and new routes, as well as the use of Lumen's new digital services, the companies added.

Additionally, Lumen will shift its workloads to Microsoft Azure and cut its overall technology expenses by adopting Microsoft's ( MSFT ) cloud and artificial intelligence technology.

Financial terms of the partnership weren't disclosed.

Lumen's stock rose more than 12% in recent premarket Wednesday, while Microsoft ( MSFT ) was down 1.3%.
