09:46 AM EST, 12/16/2024 (MT Newswires) -- MAIA Biotechnology ( MAIA ) said Monday its investigational telomere-targeting agent THIO received a rare pediatric disease designation from the Food and Drug Administration to treat pediatric-type diffuse high-grade gliomas.

The company partnered with Only Orphans Cote for THIO's designation request, it added.

MAIA said that THIO is currently in clinical development for evaluating its activity in non-small cell lung cancer.

Shares of the company were up 7% in recent Monday trading.
