06:24 AM EDT, 07/23/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Major Drilling Group International ( MJDLF ) on Monday said it is partnering with DGI Geoscience and its affiliate company KORE GeoSystems to bring artificial intelligence to the drilling industry.
Under the agreement, Major Drilling ( MJDLF ) will acquire a roughly 40% stake in DGI/KORE for $15 million in cash.
The combination of Major Drilling's ( MJDLF ) fleet, drilling teams and technology and KORE's digital rock analysis platform, complemented by DGI's borehole data acquisition services, is expected to provide valuable data to customers, the company said.
KORE uses AI to automate processing of core logging, reducing time, improving consistency and providing real-time, remote access to results.
"As our traditional drilling services evolve, the full complement of DGI/KORE products and services alongside Major Drilling's ( MJDLF ) developing technologies will see our service offering transform and help our customers during this mining upcycle," said Marc Landry, newly appointed chief technology officer at Major Drilling ( MJDLF ).
