05:29 PM EST, 11/12/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Manulife Financial ( MFC ) shares were last seen up 1.7% in after-hours New York trade after the compan on Wednesday said its third-quarter core earnings advanced 10%.
Core earnings increased 10% to $2.04 billion, or $1.16 per share, from $1.83 billion, or $1.00. Core earnings increased in the Asia by 29% and by 4% in Canada segments, but declined 20% in the U.S. segment, partially reflecting unfavorable life insurance claims experience there.
Global wealth and asset management core earnings were 9% higher, driven by higher net fee income from favorable market impacts over the past 12 months.
The company will pay a quarterly dividend of $0.44 per share on Dec. 19.
"We delivered another quarter of strong financial and operating performance, driven by focused execution and the strength and diversity of our global franchise. Core earnings in Asia, Global WAM and Canada reached record levels, and new business momentum continued, with all three insurance segments growing new business CSM by 15% or greater," said chief executive Phil Witherington.
"Our refreshed strategy, with clear priorities, strengthens our confidence in the delivery of our 2027 targets, and positions Manulife for long-term success as a globally diversified financial services leader, headquartered in Canada," he added.
Manulife shares were last seen up US$0.57 to US$34.43 After hours. They closed up $1.24 to a record high of $48.24 on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
