12:58 PM EDT, 07/11/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Marathon Oil ( MRO ) agreed to a $241.5 million settlement with the US government for allegedly violating the Clean Air Act, the Environmental Protection Agency and Department of Justice said Thursday.

Marathon will pay a civil penalty of $64.5 million and invest $177 million in "extensive compliance measures" to resolve the claims, according to a statement from the EPA and DOJ.

Marathon Oil ( MRO ) did not immediately respond to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
