08:30 AM EST, 02/18/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Marimaca Copper ( MARIF ) on Tuesday said its eponymous copper project in Chile received a response to its environmental impact statement (EIS) and is readying replies for requests for additional information.
The company said the receipt of request for added detail is the first regulatory milestone for the Marimaca project and it is compiling a response to the filing. It still expects to receive final environmental approvals by year end.
"After years of baseline data collection, rigorous analysis of environmental and social sensitivities existing within our Project's area of influence, and careful design of our project, we are pleased to see that our permitting process is progressing as planned," Jose Antonio Merino, its managing director in Chile, noted.
The company expects to make a final investment decision on the project in 2026, with production to begin in 2028 should it proceed with construction.
Marimaca shares closed up $0.04 to $5.60 Friday on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
