Market Chatter: Ad Agencies Asked by FTC to Provide Information as Part of Ad-Boycott Investigation
Jun 10, 2025 4:21 AM

06:48 AM EDT, 06/10/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Omnicom ( OMC ) , WPP ( WPP ) , Interpublic (IPG), and other ad agencies were issued civil investigative demands by the Federal Trade Commission as part of an antitrust investigation, the Wall Street Journal reported late Monday.

The FTC is seeking information as part of a probe investigating whether ad agencies coordinated advertising boycotts targeting platforms such as Elon Musk's X in ways that may violate antitrust laws.

Information has also been requested from media monitoring organizations, such as Media Matters and Ad Fontes, which rate the quality of news sources for advertisers. Other firms receiving FTC demands reportedly include Dentsu, Havas, Publicis Groupe, and Horizon Media.

Omnicom ( OMC ), WPP ( WPP ), and Interpublic did not immediately respond to requests for comment from MT Newswires.
