Aug 20, 2025 11:15 AM

01:58 PM EDT, 08/20/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Air Canada ( ACDVF ) flight attendants will begin getting paid for the work they do on the ground before the plane takes off, though not at 100% of their wage, reports CTV News.

The new tentative deal, which expires March 31, 2029, includes a plan to pay flight attendants starting at 50% of their salary as "ground pay" for an hour before the flight takes off for smaller planes, and 70 minutes for larger planes, says CTV news, citing a union representative.

The rate is meant to increase annually to reach 70% of their pay for ground work by the time the agreement expires.

Flight attendants will also receive a salary increase, the union representative said.

Air Canada ( ACDVF ) shares are down $0.39, to $19.01, on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
